"Regardless of what happens" - Virgil van Dijk on Liverpool's 2021-22 campaign
Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk has given his thoughts on the club's 2021-22 campaign thus far.
The Reds have been exceptional this season. Liverpool have already secured the League Cup and could potentially win three more trophies.
Jurgen Klopp's side are in contention for the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
With that being the case, Van Dijk has made it clear that he is proud of his teammates.
“Obviously we’ve progressed over the years as a group, the players who have come in have been very important for the team, also for the club in general,” the Dutchman told the club’s official website.
“We’re in a good moment at this stage as a club, as a team, as a city altogether. And hopefully rewards come after the season. It’s obviously not guaranteed (trophies), we still have to play all these games and hopefully be on the winning side of it.
“But regardless of what happens, I’m very proud of everyone here and we have to keep it going.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
We are also proud of Liverpool's performances this season. To compete for the quadruple is a serious achievement.
Manchester City do possess a three-point lead over the Reds at the top of the Premier League table. Both Liverpool and the Citizens only have two top-flight games remaining.
So, it is unlikely that the Reds will claim the title this season. But, Liverpool will face Chelsea in the FA Cup final tomorrow and Real Madrid in the Champions League final at the backend of May.
Therefore, the treble is very much on for Klopp's side. The Reds will have to be very good between now and the end of the season if they are to win a couple more trophies.
