Referee and VAR confirmed for Crystal Palace vs Liverpool
Andy Madley has been confirmed as the referee for Liverpool's visit to Crystal Palace this Saturday.
The Reds are aiming to finish the weekend top of the Premier League table when they visit Selhurst Park, but they will need a favour from Aston Villa in their clash with Arsenal.
Liverpool have won successive Premier League games, a dramatic 4-3 victory over Fulham and a slightly less frantic 2-0 victory over Sheffield United.
The Reds will be hopeful of avoiding any officiating controversy in Saturday's early kick-off, with Madley the man tasked with overseeing proceedings in London.
He will be joined by his assistants Harry Lennard and Nick Hopton, while Tom Bramall will be the game's fourth official.
John Brooks will be on VAR duty and he will be joined by Adam Nunn as his assistant.
ANDY MADLEY'S RECORD IN LIVERPOOL GAMES
Madley has taken charge of 11 Liverpool games in the past and the good news for Jurgen Klopp is that they have never lost a game he has officiated.
Of the 11, Liverpool have won seven and drawn four, with Madley most recently refereeing the Reds' 1-1 draw with Luton Town earlier this season.
That's the only match that Madley has officiated for Liverpool this term, although he was in charge for the famous 7-0 victory over Manchester United towards the latter stages of last campaign.
Madley has dished out 11 yellow cards, averaging only one per Liverpool game, and no red cards, while having awarded just the one penalty to Fulham on the opening day of last season.
The 40-year-old has once overseen a meeting between Liverpool and Palace, a 3-0 victory for the Reds back in 2021.
Generally speaking, Madley's Liverpool games have been without drama from an officiating perspective, although there tends to be plenty of goals when he's involved.
