Real Madrid are readying a new contract for Aurélien Tchouaméni in order to see off interest from Liverpool, according to a report.

This comes from 90min. They report that Real Madrid have absolutely no intention of selling Aurélien Tchouaméni to Liverpool and will offer the player a new contract in 2024.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool continue to be linked with the Frenchman. Liverpool, in fact, tried hard to sign him in 2022 but ultimately lost the race to Real Madrid. Their interest has reportedly never gone away, though - and why would it have?

The Reds are yet to grab a new defensive midfielder for the long-term, instead opting for Wataru Endo this summer as a bit of a stop-gap. There's little question that they'll move to sign a new option there next year.

Tchouaméni would be at the top of anyone's list for the role. If he's available, everyone should expect Liverpool to reignite their push to get him. It's just very unlikely that he'll be available.

Real want him in their future, along with the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and, of course, Jude Bellingham. Los Blancos are making moves to tie down their young talents, in fact, as Vinicius Jr. just signed a new contract to 2027.

90min report that Camavinga will be next, while Tchouaméni will follow in 2024. Essentially, the only way Liverpool can snap him up is if the 23-year-old rejects that new contract with Real - but there's no suggestion that he'll do that.

Instead, Liverpool will likely look elsewhere when it comes to their defensive midfielder search. Fluminense star André seems like the most probably addition in January after the Copa Libertadores comes to a close.

The Reds tried to grab him in the summer but Fluminense's continued presence in that competition left them unwilling to sell. They've now made the final and, suggesting that was the right move on their part.

Once it's all over, though, André could well be the signing with Tchouaméni so firmly off the table.
