Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing 108-goal Liverpool forward

Real Madrid are interested in signing Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, according to a report from Fichajes, as cited by SBOTOP on Twitter.

The report states that the La Liga giants are eyeing a summer move for the Senegal international. The report further adds that if Real Madrid can't capture Mane's signature this year, they will consider trying again in 2023.

The 29-year-old's contract expires in June 2023. Transfermarkt value Mane at €80 million.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Mane has been an exceptional player for Liverpool over the years. The winger has scored 108 goals and registered 44 assists in 247 appearances for the club's first-team.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was certain that Mane would deliver at Anfield.

“Maybe people thought ‘I am not sure he is worth it [the €41.20 million transfer fee]’, but we were 100 per cent sure about him,” the German said back in 2020, as quoted by The Independent.

“Consistency was the key and absolutely now what he is doing and how he performs is consistent.

“The level he performs at is unbelievable. He helps us massively. He is a complete player, offensively and defensively he works hard, he is really quick.”

Mane has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.24 across the 2021-22 Premier League campaign, which highlights that he is far from finished at the top level.

Therefore, we certainly don't want to see the Senegal international and the club part ways anytime soon.

We can't see any reason why Mane would want to leave Liverpool. The forward is a regular starter in Klopp's side.

Also, the Reds are challenging for all the major trophies. As of right now, Liverpool is a great club to represent.

With Mane's contract expiring next year, only time will tell where his long-term future lies.
