Liverpool won against RB Leipzig in the Champions League, earning the maximum nine points from their opening three matches.

Caoimhin Kelleher 9: - Too busy for his own liking. Held a Benjamin Sesko header, terrific save from Haidara and made an extraordinary second-half save from Sesko again. Got his fingertips to another curling Xavi Simons effort. Majestic from the stand-in.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 6: - Not as involved on the ball as he has been in recent weeks. Caught on the ball in the second half by Xavi Simons but made up for it shortly after, winning a clean one-v-one. Subbed.

Virgil van Dijk 7: - Almost scored from a header off a Tsimikas corner but was denied by Peter Gulacsi. Really put through the ringer in the latter stages.

Ibrahima Konate 6: - Found Lois Openda hard to get to grips with, conceding an early foul and needed to be alert throughout.

Kostas Tsimikas 9: - Picked his moments to get forward and dug out a great ball for Salah in the lead up to the opening goal. Also, the Greek supplied some good dead balls.

Ryan Gravenberch 7: - Won possession plenty of times and had his usual high rate of accurate passes. One great second-half interception inside his own area.

Alexis Mac Allister 7: - Harshly booked for diving. Got the Reds moving for the opening goal and almost scored a second-half curler.

Dominik Szoboszlai 7: - Clattered on the ankle by Castello Lukeba for a yellow card. Delicious through ball for Gakpo at the end of the first half and a lovely back-heel to set up Mac Allister.

Mohamed Salah 8: - A terrific header could have put him into the top 10 Champions League goalscorers of all time but it was finished off by Darwin. Had a couple of other half-chances.

Cody Gakpo 9: - Prompted Tsimikas to supply the cross for the opener. A sumptuous pass almost made a second goal for Darwin. Should have scored either side of half-time. Had a good shot from range saved by Gulacsi late on.

Darwin Nunez 8: - Notched a confidence-boosting tap-in and should have had a second shortly after. Should have had a penalty and dug out a chance for Gakpo in the second half.

Subs:

Luis Diaz 6: - Replaced Salah, who was rested ahead of Arsenal, and showed he could play alongside Gakpo.

Curtis Jones 6: - Came into midfield and Gakpo went up front as a result.

Joe Gomez 6: - Brought on to give a breather to Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back.

Andy Robertson 6: - Continues to be used sparingly by Arne Slot. Replaced Tsimikas. Got forward well in the closing stages.
