Ranking every Jurgen Klopp win over Manchester United
Jurgen Klopp vowed to turn doubters into believers upon his arrival at Anfield and he has certainly done that when it comes to Liverpool vs Manchester United.
Once a fixture that Liverpool supporters dreaded, the Reds have enjoyed the lion's share of the spoils in recent history, and that's mainly thanks to the 56-year-old German in the dugout.
The Reds boss has helped transform Liverpool in this fixture, orchestrating some memorable moments in this historic rivalry.
Klopp has faced Man Utd on 18 occasions since rocking up on Merseyside, winning seven and losing just four of his meetings with the Red Devils.
Here are all of Klopp's victories against Man Utd - ranked.
7. LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN UTD - MARCH 2016
Klopp's first victory against Man Utd came in a surprise meeting between the two sides in the Europa League last 16. The former Borussia Dortmund manager had only been appointed at Anfield five months earlier and had already lost his debut clash with the Red Devils, but this time he would taste victory against Louis van Gaal's side.
A Liverpool back four of Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and Alberto Moreno somehow kept a clean sheet at Anfield, with a Daniel Sturridge penalty and close-range Roberto Firmino strike giving the Reds a two-goal lead heading into the second leg.
Liverpool would draw the reverse leg at Old Trafford 1-1 thanks to Philippe Coutinho's exquisite solo goal, Klopp taking the Reds all the way to the Europa League final. Unfortunately, they came up against the unbeatable Sevilla in Basel.
6. MAN UTD 2-4 LIVERPOOL - MAY 2021
Having made a pretty awful attempt at defending their Premier League title, Liverpool ended the 2020/21 season scrapping for a top four place. In the end, victory at Old Trafford - a first for seven years - proved pivotal in securing European football.
Bruno Fernandes' deflected strike had put Man Utd a goal to the good early on, but Diogo Jota's neat flick from Nat Phillips' effort levelled the scores. The Reds would take a well-earned lead into the break via Robert Firmino's far-post header, with the Brazilian doubling his tally shortly after half-time.
While Marcus Rashford would pull one back, Mohamed Salah's late goal secured all three points in a six-goal affair that would move Liverpool within four points of Chelsea in fourth,
The Reds would secure Champions League football thanks to Alisson's fabled header against West Brom three days later, but it wouldn't have been possible without a vital win in Manchester.
5. LIVERPOOL 4-0 MAN UTD - APRIL 2022
This one was almost too easy for Liverpool, Man Utd barely putting up a fight at Anfield as they fell to a 4-0 defeat.
Luis Diaz's early tap-in sent the Reds on their way to an emphatic victory, with Salah converting a simply sublime Liverpool move following Sadio Mane's incisive pass. The Senegalese then got his name on the scoresheet, tucking home Diaz's cross.
And, of course, there was still time for Salah to grab yet another against the Red Devils, dinking an effort over the onrushing David de Gea to complete the scoring.
Liverpool were streets ahead of Man Utd on this occasion.
4. LIVERPOOL 3-1 MAN UTD - DECEMBER 2018
Another memorable victory against Man Utd, it was Xherdan Shaqiri's moment in the spotlight during this fixture in late 2018.
After Mane had put the Reds in front with his first-half effort and Jesse Lingard had equalised after an Alisson error, Shaqiri's late deflected brace gave Liverpool all three points at Anfield. While the Swiss international was usually on the periphery of the club's success, he took centre stage on this occasion.
It was a result that sent Klopp's men top of the table but, more importantly in the end, it was the game that got Jose Mourinho sacked in Manchester.
3. LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN UTD - JANUARY 2020
This was the moment all Liverpool supporters finally believed that the Premier League title would be coming to Anfield. As Salah raced clear following Alisson's delightful volleyed through ball, side-footing a shot beyond an outstretched De Gea in stoppage-time, dreams became reality.
Liverpool had taken an early lead through Virgil van Dijk's towering header, with the Reds unable to add to their tally until Salah found a late second. The Egyptian then proceeded to rip his shirt off in front of an adoring Kop as Klopp's men edged closer to the crown.
The result sent Liverpool 16 points clear of title rivals Manchester City with a game in hand, Klopp eventually finishing the season with his and the Reds' first Premier League trophy.
2. MAN UTD 0-5 LIVERPOOL - OCTOBER 2021
It's one thing demolishing your fierce rivals, it's another thing doing it on their own turf. Liverpool enjoyed that euphoric pleasure in 2021, putting five unanswered goals past Cristiano Ronaldo's Man Utd at Old Trafford.
Things got off to a flying start with a rare Naby Keita goal just five minutes into proceedings, with Jota doubling Liverpool's advantage just eight minutes later.
Then it was time for Salah to steal the show as he so often does, netting a brace before half-time to stun the Old Trafford crowd. But the Egyptian wasn't done there, expertly finishing off Jordan Henderson's wonderful through ball early in the second half.
Just to make things even sweeter, Paul Pogba saw red with half-an-hour remaining and Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got the sack just a month later.
1. LIVERPOOL 7-0 MAN UTD - MARCH 2023
Well, there is no doubt about Klopp's greatest victory over Man Utd.
Rewind to last March when a supposedly resurgent United travelled to Anfield looking to force home their 'dominance', but were met with great resistance from a ruthless Liverpool side. The Reds were actually only one goal to the good at half-time, Cody Gakpo's well-crafted effort putting them ahead.
The second half was one to enjoy, though. Quickfire goals from Darwin Nunez and Gakpo swiftly made it three, with Salah slamming home a powerful fourth on the half-volley. Nunez's header and a Salah second would make it six, but there was still time for an emotional Firmino strike.
It was nothing short of an obliteration at Anfield, a victory masterminded by Klopp and his high-octane system. Hopefully for the German, there are plenty more famous victories to come against Man Utd.
