Pundit labels Liverpool player best striker in the league after Arsenal win
Former footballer Trevor Sinclair has labelled Diogo Jota the best centre-forward currently operating in the Premier League.
The Portuguese ace hit a brace on Thursday night to send Liverpool through to the EFL Cup final at the expense of Arsenal.
Indeed, his second goal in particular was a real moment of class as he brought a cross-field pass down on his chest before dinking the ball over Aaron Ramsdale.
And, based on current form, Sinclair reckons there is no one better in his position in the league right now:
“I think he’s the best,” Sinclair said on talkSPORT. “Kane’s not quite at it, Lukaku isn’t firing. I think Jota is the best centre-forward in the league.
“He’s unfortunate that he’s come into a Liverpool side where the front three have their positions set in stone.
“Since he left Wolves for Liverpool, he’s upped his game.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
There is no doubting Jota's quality right now.
Indeed, Sinclair makes a good point and there should be a conversation had around it.
Man City don't really have a forward, none of Man United's are firing and both Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku have been off the boil at times this season.
Jota is certainly in the picture at the moment.
