Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness has raved about West Ham United winger and reported Reds target Jarrod Bowen.

The Englishman has had a very good 2021-22 campaign. Bowen has scored 18 goals and registered 13 assists in 50 appearances for West Ham United.

The 25-year-old has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.13 across all competitions. With that being the case, Souness has had some good things to say about Bowen.

He said the following on Sky Sports Premier League (2:53pm, May 14, 2022): “This boy is a proper player. He has had a really really good season.”

Bowen's contract does not expire until the summer of 2025. He possesses a current market value of £31.50 million.

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Souness. Bowen is a top player. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has praised the winger in the past, which does suggest that the Reds could genuinely be interested in signing him.

“Bowen, what a player he became!” the German said back in March, as quoted by the Evening Standard. “Unbelievable.

“We saw him as well at Hull City and he was really good at that time. I’m not sure a lot of people expected this jump, but unbelievable player.”

However, we don't believe that Liverpool need to sign Bowen. As things stand, Klopp has a number of quality attacking players at his disposal (Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz).

Therefore, we don't believe that Bowen would get much of an opportunity at Anfield. No footballer in their prime wants to be a squad player. You only get one career at the end of the day.

But, only time will tell if Liverpool and Bowen are to cross paths.
