Hughes and his team are yet to act in the market and are not expected to unless an opportunity presents itself.

Instead, Liverpool are bracing themselves for the summer window as they look to build on Arne Slot's squad. The priority for now remains trying to sort out the future of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.

But it's not just that trio who could be on their way out of the club according to the latest reports.

The pressure on Richard Hughes as fresh bids arrive for Ben Doak

In what is the most surprising twist of the window in these early stages so far it looks like Ben Doak could depart Liverpool on a permanent deal.

The Scotsman has excelled on loan for Middlesbrough and has a loan contract until the end of the season. However, Liverpool have an option to recall him which has opened up a path for a permanent deal elsewhere.

Anfield Watch reported on how two Premier League sides Ipswich and Crystal Palace are interested in Doak and have made offers of £15m for his services.

Those offers have been rejected with Liverpool wanting £30m but it seems like the duo have not given up and are set to mount the pressure on Hughes further.

That is according to The Guardian who report that both Palace and Ipswich have risen their bids and are now offering Liverpool £20m for Doak's services.

That is still £10m shy of Liverpool's valuation but it's a lot closer to what Hughes would like for Doak.

With the youngster not really in the frame at Anfield, it's an offer that will definitely test Liverpool's resolve. Whether the Reds ultimately cave in or whether they hold out for more remains to be seen.

It's certainly obvious that Doak is not shy of suitors and perhaps this won't be the last bid Palace or Ipswich make.
