Positive update on Andy Robertson injury recovery

Andy Robertson's recovery from injury is 'on schedule', with the left back set to return to action next month.

Liverpool's number 26 suffered a dislocated shoulder during the October international break, when he collided with Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon while playing for Scotland.

Robertson required surgery to fix the issue, ruling him out of action at Liverpool for an extended period. While the defender's absence has been an unwelcome one for Jurgen Klopp and co, the recovery is going to plan.

According to the Daily Mail, Robertson is set to be fit to make his comeback for the first team next month, having already returned to the training pitch at the AXA Training Centre.

The report adds that the Scotland captain is 'not yet involved in contact training', instead focussing on running work on the grass for fitness.

So far, Robertson has missed eight Premier League games for Liverpool since his injury, with Kostas Tsimikas and Joe Gomez filling in at left back.

Speaking at end of November during the last international break, Robertson said of his recovery: "I'm getting there, slowly and surely. Surgery was a success which was the main thing, no complications from it or anything like that.

"I have just got to take it bit by bit and week by week. Everything has went well up to this point and hopefully that continues. Hopefully, before we know it, I'll be back on the grass."

The latest update on Robertson is pleasing news for Liverpool fans with injuries mounting as the halfway stage of the season approaches.

Diogo Jota, Alexis Mac Allister, Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago are all currently absent for the Reds, in addition to Robertson, while Joel Matip is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a ruptured ACL.
