Leighton Clarkson reflects as he returns to Liverpool from Blackburn
Young Liverpool midfielder Leighton Clarkson has taken to social media to reflect on his time at Blackburn Rovers and on the news that he has seen the loan deal cut short to return to the Reds.
Clarkson has great things expected of him at the club and it was decided that a loan deal with Rovers would be best for him in terms of his progression, with Harvey Elliott showing only last season what the Ewood Park club can do for our players.
However, Clarkson has not found it as productive as Elliott did with game time limited and the deal has now been brought to an abrupt end.
The midfielder, though, has no regrets about joining his hometown club for a short spell, and reacted to the development with a classy message - which Anfield Watch has shared via the site's academy Twitter page:
Anfield Watch Verdict
A shame for Clarkson but sometimes these things happen in a young player's early career and all he can do is not let it get to him too much and instead seek to respond.
Ultimately, he is a young footballer with plenty behind him at the club who think that he could become a really good asset in the future.
There's no need to panic in light of this news and it potentially means we're going to see him move elsewhere this month for another loan spell elsewhere, either in the Championship or perhaps at another level.
It does seem, though, that the Reds have made the best choice in terms of the player's development.
