Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has been spotted with former Red Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazil international represented Liverpool between 2013-18. Coutinho was a very good player for the Reds.

The 29-year-old scored 54 goals and registered 45 assists in 201 appearances for the club's first-team.

However, Coutinho ended up forcing a move to Barcelona. Liverpool sold the midfielder to the La Liga club for a transfer fee of €135 million.

The move has not worked out for Coutinho. He has only made 106 appearances for Barcelona in his four years at the club.

Coutinho has even been loaned out to Bayern Munich (2019-20) and Aston Villa (2022-July) whilst registered with the Spanish club.

With the Brazilian currently playing for the Villans in the United Kingdom, he caught up with Thiago recently, who was his teammate at Bayern Munich.

Anfield Watch Verdict

The Reds have been linked with a move for Coutinho in recent times.

Therefore, we would love to see the Brazil international back at Liverpool. Coutinho has shown during his short time at Aston Villa that he is still a very capable midfielder.

Coutinho has found the back of the net three times and secured three assists in seven appearances for the club's first-team.

Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard believes that Coutinho has recaptured the form that he showed at Anfield.

As quoted by The Daily Mail, the 41-year-old told BBC's Match of the Day the following: "[He is in a] really good place - he was back to his Liverpool form today and he was a touch above. The other players have got a lift from him.

"It is about having players running in behind for him and Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings were untouchable at times today too.

"When Phil is in the mood he is a world class player."

If Liverpool were to come in for the midfielder, perhaps Thiago convince him to come back.
