The first Everton goal came from a free-kick taken in the wrong position, allowing Beto in behind to score one-on-one versus Alisson Becker. But arguably the free-kick should have never been given as Alexis Mac Allister made ZERO contact with Iliman Ndiaye in midfield.

Then came the equaliser.

The clock was close to ticking over to 95 minutes - with five minutes originally being signalled as the minimum allocated additional time - when two Everton players bumped heads.

That necessitated a long stoppage, meaning Everton were effectively given three more minutes to find a leveller.

But just prior to the incident which provoked the goal, Mohamed Salah was clearly fouled on the edge of the Everton penalty box, which should have been given as a free-kick to Liverpool.

However, Oliver allowed play to continue with Everton turning on a counter-attack.

Not only that but Ibrahima Konate was SHOVED in the build-up to the equaliser by Beto while the initial ball towards the Liverpool area should really have caused an offside flag to be raised.

Michael Oliver has his say against Liverpool

Instead, VAR suggested Virgil van Dijk was playing the Toffees onside. Overall, Liverpool have a right to be unhappy with the refereeing display, as evidenced by Arne Slot’s red card for approaching Oliver in the immediate aftermath.

But the Reds nonetheless go seven points clear of Arsenal with only 14 matches to go. Their title fate remains very much in their hands but an extra two-point cushion would have been ideal. Alas, thanks to Oliver, the Anfield club must make do with seven.

But it’s not the only time this particular referee has had his say against Liverpool in an adverse manner.

Back in 2020/21, Jordan Pickford RUINED Liverpool’s season with a disgraceful attack on captain Virgil van Dijk on the fifth matchday.

The subsequent ACL injury he caused ruled Van Dijk out for the entire season and Jurgen Klopp had serious issues at centre-back all season long. Incredibly, it wasn’t even given as a foul by Oliver. Play instead restarted with an offside given against Liverpool.

Oliver later admitted he made a mistake and should have sent Pickford off.

Last season with the Premier League title race in the balance on the 28th matchday, Oliver DENIED Liverpool a last-gap penalty against Manchester City which would have given them the win and overhauled Man City at the top of the table.

Jeremy Doku CLEARLY kicked Alexis Mac Allister in the chest right at the end of the game but Oliver was seemingly oblivious to it. No red card, no penalty.

Liverpool effectively slip out of the race with City going onto strengthen their grip on the title.

We understand that Arsenal fans have their own issues with Oliver, but the real disgrace is how much impact he’s had on Liverpool in the last few seasons.
