Pep Lijnders is currently developing the next Sadio Mane at Red Bull Salzburg and Liverpool should plot a transfer.

Liverpool's former assistant manager inherited the task of getting Salzburg back on track this summer after leaving Anfield for pastures new.

Lijnders' task was far from easy considering Red Bull lost the league title for the first time in over a decade last season and had looked a shadow of themselves.

But the Dutchman has immediately revived the Austrian side and got them back on track playing some impressive football while going undefeated in all competitions so far.

One of the players who has thrived under Lijnders so far is Moussa Yeo. The Malian left-winger has been catching the eye for Salzburg's second team, Liefering after arriving from the renowned JMG academy two years ago but he was promoted into Salzburg's first team by Lijnders this summer.

It's a decision that has paid dividends. Yeo has fought himself into the starting XI and has been on fire for the Austrian side.

In six games this season, the 20 year old winger has three goals and two assists. Considering he has achieved these numbers in just 207 minutes - Yeo has actually averaged a goal contribution for Salzburg every 34.5 minutes - an incredible rate and one that should attract Liverpool's scouts.

Yeo's brilliant technical ability and his awareness in front of goal would make him a suitable option for Arne Slot. There are shades of Sadio Mane in the way he plays - especially from Mane's early years at Salzburg.

It's no secret Liverpool have a strong relationship with Red Bull clubs with plenty of transfers conducted between them over the years, including a deal for Bobby Clark this summer. With Lijnders now in charge of Salzburg, those relations have only gotten stronger and that could see the Reds being able to wrap up a bargain transfer.
