Lijnders reveals Klopp half-time message vs Chelsea
Pep Lijnders has revealed that Jurgen Klopp was in contact with the Reds at half-time during the game at Chelsea on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
A pulsating affair played out in that particular corner of south west London yesterday afternoon as Liverpool pulled into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.
They were, though, pegged back to 2-2 as the Blues hit two quick-fire goals through Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic.
Certainly, it was a shame to see that happen just before the break and Lijnders has revealed that Klopp was in touch with the Reds' players during the interval, as well as beforehand in the lead up to the game:
"We were in contact over the last two days," said Lijnders to LFC TV. "We prepared the team yesterday (Saturday) with everything we had.
"We tried to keep it as natural as we could for the players so not a lot of things changed. I think the players accepted it and did really well.
"We had constantly contact, Jurgen and myself.
"It was nice to hear at half-time his voice and he sounds okay. But of course he should focus on his health and getting better."
Anfield Watch Verdict
It can't have been easy for Lijnders and Klopp to try and orchestrate a match-winning plan with the Liverpool manager in isolation but around 40 minutes into yesterday's contest it looked as though they had conjured up exactly that.
In the end, there would be no match-winning feeling, though, and now the Reds head to Arsenal in the League Cup on Thursday.
