Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson recently spoke to Nike about a variety of topics in relation to football.

During the interview, the 31-year-old was asked to name his dream midfield partner from a past era.

Henderson said that he would have to loved to have played with former England midfielder Paul Gascoigne.

The Liverpool captain said that the Englishman was so good that people still talk about him now.

Henderson told Nike/Liverpool's official website the following (04:56): “Gazza, yeah I’d probably go Gazza.

“Just because I think, obviously I’ve watched games when I was really young and I’ve seen a lot of things on YouTube and things like that.

“But also, just how people still talk about him."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Gascoigne was a terrific player. Footage of the midfielder highlights that he was capable of doing things that other footballers could not.

Therefore, we are not surprised to hear that Henderson would have liked to have taken to the same field as Gascoigne.

The hard-working 31-year-old would have complemented the talented Gascoigne. At Anfield Watch, we absolutely love Henderson simply because he puts in a shift for the team.

There is a reason why the midfielder is the captain of the club. Overall, Henderson's Liverpool career has been reasonably successful.

The Englishman has scored 33 goals and registered 55 assists in 421 appearances for the club's first-team.

Henderson has also won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League title as Liverpool captain.

The midfielder recently renewed his contract. Henderson's current deal will expire in the summer of 2025.

With that being the case, there is no reason why the 31-year-old could not win another trophy or two as captain of the club.

We look forward to watching Henderson lead the Reds in the years to come.
