Paul Scholes believes Liverpool are ahead of Chelsea in the title race

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has given his opinion on the 2021-22 Premier League title race.

After nine matches, Chelsea currently sit at the top of the table. Liverpool and Manchester City sit in second-place and third-place respectively.

Despite that being the case, Scholes believes the Reds and the Citizens are ahead of the Blues in the title race.

As quoted by Metro, Scholes told Premier League Productions the following: "Chelsea… I’m not sure, they have been great and I think they are better than I actually give them credit for but I think it’s between Liverpool and Manchester City.

"I think City watching that today [Liverpool's 5-0 Premier League win over Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend], in the Champions League or the Premier League, that will frighten them."

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Chelsea are a very good side. The Blues are the reigning champions of Europe for a reason.

Therefore, we aren't prepared to write Chelsea off. We believe that the Blues are right in the mix for the title this season.

In saying that, we also believe that Liverpool are a chance to win the trophy. The Reds have scored 27 goals and conceded only six in nine Premier League matches this season.

Liverpool are solid offensively and defensively, which means that they are a side to keep an eye on for the remainder of the campaign.

Manchester City have won three out of the last four titles, so they are clearly a threat this season.

Only time will tell which team will win the 2021-22 league title.
