Paul Joyce's promising update on the fitness of Joe Gomez
Paul Joyce from The Times has provided an update on Joe Gomez's condition.
The defender suffered an ankle injury during Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Southampton at St Mary's earlier this week.
Gomez was replaced by Jordan Henderson 45 minutes into the game. However, Joyce has confirmed that the England international has not suffered a serious injury.
The journalist further added that Liverpool are confident Gomez will be available for the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
The fixture will take place on the 28th of May at the Stade de France.
Joyce tweeted the following: "Joe Gomez has had a scan on the ankle injury sustained versus Southampton. No serious damage which is a positive outcome. Liverpool are confident he will be available for the Champions League final if his recovery goes as planned."Anfield Watch Verdict
It is brilliant to hear that Gomez will more than likely be fit for the Champions League final. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will want everyone to be available so he can pick his strongest team/bench for the match.
On another note, Liverpool will have to play well to defeat Real Madrid. The reality is, the La Liga side scored six goals to defeat Manchester City to progress to the final.
The Citizens are one of the best teams in world football too. So, if Liverpool are to defeat Real Madrid, they will have to nullify their attackers (Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior etc).
However, we are confident that if the Reds play to the best of their ability, they will win the match.
The reality is, no team in the world can live with Klopp's Liverpool when they are at their best.
They overwhelm sides. You only have to look at some of the matches where Liverpool have defeated Manchester City over the years.
The Citizens have not always been able to live with Klopp's team.
