The Times' Paul Joyce has confirmed that Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has returned to Merseyside after missing out on World Cup qualification.

Senegal defeated Egypt 3-1 on penalties to secure their place at the 2022 World Cup. However, Salah's Egypt will not be seen at the upcoming tournament because of the aforementioned result.

The 29-year-old had a tough night against Senegal. Salah missed his penalty.

But, as Salah took his spot kick, some Senegal fans pointed laser beams at the forward in order to distract him.

Also, Liverpool's No.11 and his Egyptian teammates were reportedly the subject of racist abuse during the match.

Salah has since returned to the AXA Training Centre "seemingly craving a semblance of normality", according to Joyce.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, the journalist told The Times the following: "The striker reported at Liverpool’s AXA training facility before lunchtime on Wednesday, seemingly craving a semblance of normality."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Hopefully Salah is alright. The winger did have a tough evening against Senegal. Nothing went his way.

Therefore, it is important that his Liverpool teammates get around him. It is also important that the Anfield faithful gets behind him on Saturday. The Reds are set to face Watford at Anfield (Premier League).

Salah has brought the Liverpool fans so many brilliant memories. So, he deserves all the support in the world.

If the Reds are to win the 2021-22 Premier League title, they will need Salah to continue his good form.

The winger has scored 28 goals and registered 10 assists in 36 appearances for Liverpool this season.

With that being the case, we look forward to seeing Salah wearing the famous red again. Saturday can't come soon enough as far as we are concerned.
