Liverpool look set to battle it out with Real Madrid for the signature of Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni.

According to the very reliable Paul Joyce, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Liverpool are looking for midfield reinforcements and they like the look of Monaco's Tchouameni.

Joyce does go on to say that Liverpool are aware the France international is also attracting interest from Real Madrid.

Finally, the report says that if they press ahead, interest depends on a number of factors including price, but it would be a midfielder with a similar profile to the powerful Tchouameni that they would target should he be out of reach.

Anfield Watch Verdict

This report comes days after French journalist Santi Aouna claimed that Liverpool are currently targeting the 22-year-old.

Aouna also confirmed that Liverpool have already contacted the French midfielder's representatives ahead of a summer transfer.

Joyce did not confirm that the Reds have made contact but the fact that his name has now been mentioned by the most credible Liverpool source about is more than enough to point towards serious interest in Tchouameni from Klopp's side.

Spanish journalist Sergio Santos, as cited by The Real Madrid Zone's Twitter account, claimed that Tchouameni is currently not a 'priority' for Real Madrid.

Santos also goes on to say that he will only arrive if it is for a reasonable price. He also mentions that Real will not enter a bidding war for a player who will arrive as a substitute.

It seems likely that Dani Ceballos, Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Federico Valverde will all be ahead of Tchouameni if he was to arrive at the Bernabeu this summer.

However, for Liverpool, he would be our fourth choice midfielder, with it looking likely that the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner will be moved on this summer.

Whatever happens with Tchouameni, it seems like the Reds will be in for him when the time comes for the 22-year-old to choose his next club.
