Liverpool have made an enquiry for teenage starlet Luis Guilherme ahead of a possible summer move, according to rumours coming from his native Brazil.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder is known as one of the standout talents in his homeland, following a breakthrough in the Palmeiras first-team last year.

The youngster was part of the side that won the Brazilian league title last season and has already made appearances for Brazil Under-20s despite only turning 18 this month.

Renowned for his pace, Guilherme is ranked as one of Palmeiras' top homegrown starlets of recent years alongside teammate Endrick, who will join Real Madrid this summer.

Guilherme release clause

According to Nosso Palestra, Liverpool have "carried out a consultation" for long-term target Guilherme and are considering a move in the summer transfer window.

The report claims the Reds "approached" Palmeiras about the requirements for a possible deal.

Last year, Guilherme renewed his contract with the Sao Paulo club until 2026, while his new deal is said to contain a release clause of around €55m (£47m), with Palmeiras holding 80% of his economic rights.

Nosso Palestra's claim of Liverpool's enquiry is backed up by Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, who reported on his YouTube channel that Palmeiras would not entertain bids of less than €35m (£30m) plus hefty bonuses, as they seek a similar deal to the one that took Endrick to Real Madrid.

He said: "I checked this story with the people at Palmeiras and I can say that there was an enquiry from Liverpool, without an initial offer yet.

"The English wanted to understand the conditions for a possible deal. Palmeiras made it clear that it will not negotiate, under any circumstances, for less than €35m.

"Palmeiras would still require the payment of some bonuses so that this negotiation comes close to the figures that took Endrick to Real Madrid. Just to remind you, the total operation was €72m (£61m), €12m (£10m) for tax payments, €35m (£30m) fixed and another €25m (£21m) in bonuses."

As well as interest from Liverpool, Premier League rivals including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have all previously been linked with Guilherme, who is seen as one of South America's hottest prospects.
