Former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry has lauded Mohamed Salah's assist against Villarreal in the Champions League at Anfield last night.

The Reds defeated the La Liga side 2-0. Salah is a key reason why Liverpool will take a two goal lead into the second leg of their semi-final tie against Villarreal.

The Egyptian international played a superb pass into the path of Sadio Mane. The Senegal international ended up scoring as a result.

As you can read below, Henry was a big fan of Salah's pass.

“That’s more than a cute pass,” the Frenchman told CBS Sports (27/04/22 at 9:55 pm). “He meant to put the ball in between the legs of the defender. That’s outstanding.

“The pass of Salah was just outstanding. We can talk about the line or whatever. Salah meant that to happen. It’s outstanding. You can’t defend that.

“The ball can pass and go through that. That pass, this is why Mo Salah this season, he is better than what he used to be.

“To make that ball go through the legs at a particular moment and he meant it. To pass it to Mane. Wow.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Salah was excellent against Villarreal. The winger did not score, but his link up play meant that he ended up registering a WhoScored player rating of 7.12 for his 90-minute performance.

Salah has been labelled as selfish in front of goal by some people in the media. However, he has registered 14 assists in 44 appearances this season.

The aforementioned figures highlight that there is more to Salah's game than simply goals.

The man is a very complete player. Salah is only 29 years of age, so he has plenty of time left in his career to improve and add to what he has already achieved.
