Mohamed Salah has stated that Stefan Bajcetic has probably been Liverpool's best player since becoming a regular member of the first team under Jurgen Klopp this season.

The 18-year-old midfielder enjoyed another fantastic game in the center of the park for Liverpool as they secured a much-needed 2-0 win against Everton at Anfield thanks to goals from Salah and Cody Gakpo. Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Salah lavished praise on the young midfielder and also delivered a glowing verdict on Darwin Nunez.

"Since Stefan started playing with us, he's been our best player. It's a huge win. It's huge for us. It's been a perfect week to train - we were all so excited. Hopefully, that is the start.

"Darwin is so so fast - wow - but we won the game - that is the most important thing."

"Millie and Hendo spoke to us yesterday and told us we just need to play our football - we've been together for 6 years. It looks like the old Liverpool but that all started last week."

When asked for his reaction to Salah's comment, a beaming Bajcetic couldn't contain his excitement as he referred to the Egyptian as one of Liverpool's greatest-ever players.

"To hear that from a Liverpool legend, it's amazing to hear. Mo Salah is probably one of the best players ever in Liverpool history so it is nice to hear a legend say that to me.

"Hopefully this is just the start. A year ago I was playing U18 football - now I am playing at Anfield. I am enjoying it a lot."

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Bajcetic's emergence has been one of the bright sparks in an otherwise underwhelming season for Liverpool. The 18-year-old midfielder has stormed through the door at Anfield and delivered a string of eye-catching displays, earning himself a new long-term deal at the club.

Liverpool need midfield reinforcements, but Bajcetic's rapid rise to stardom means they already have a gem of a player on their hands who could become a mainstay under Jurgen Klopp.
