Following Liverpool this season has been exhausting, but in a good way

For the majority of my life, Liverpool have been uncompetitive.

So, when it became apparent that the Reds could win the quadruple this season, it was almost a bit overwhelming.

Football during the second-half of the 2021-22 campaign has been stressful to watch. Every Liverpool game has had something riding on it.

The League and FA Cup finals against Chelsea were decided by penalties. However, the Reds were able to come out the other side as victors on both occasions.

But, there is nothing worse than sitting through a shootout. There is a lot that can go wrong. Luckily the players that represent Liverpool are mentally strong.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has described his footballers as "mentality monsters".

Then, Liverpool ran Manchester City all the way to the final day in the Premier League title race. However, the Citizens ended up securing the trophy by a single point, which ended the Reds' quadruple hopes.

It is ridiculous to think that Liverpool accumulated 92 points of a possible 114 and still missed out on lifting the trophy. The Reds only lost two top-flight games for the season.

But, Pep Guadiola's side have taken the Premier League to another level. We just have to follow Jurgen Klopp and accept the reality.

"Ninety-two points is absolutely incredible," the Liverpool boss told the BBC, as quoted by Football365.

"We wanted it all (quadruple), but now it’s OK.

“(Finishing second) is the story of my life. I’m still record holder for not getting promoted in Germany (Mainz) with the highest points tally. You need to get more points than any other teams, but we didn’t do that.

“You can’t do more than give your absolute best and that’s what the boys did again. We chased the best team in the world to the wire, that’s absolutely special. We’ll build a team again and go again.”

However, the season is still not over for Liverpool. We have the Champions League final to look forward to. Liverpool will face Real Madrid at the Stade de France on Saturday night.

European Cup finals have to be the most stressful nights for supporters. It is the biggest tournament a club can win. A lot is on the line.

With that being the case, it can be easy to not enjoy the build-up to the match. Liverpool are gunning for their seventh European Cup and their second under Klopp.

The German is already a legend of the club, but there is no denying that he could enhance his status by winning another Champions League title.

Despite the stress, we have enjoyed the 2021-22 campaign. There is nothing better than seeing your team compete for trophies.

At the end of the day, we want Liverpool Football Club to be competitive, and right now, they are exactly that.

But, we would be lying if we said that we weren't looking forward to the break. Going by Fabinho's comments, the players are also hanging out for some time away from football.

"I think I can speak a little general: we are very tired," the Liverpool midfielder told Spanish newspaper Diario AS.

"It's true because we've been playing on weekends and during the week for a month now, always game after game and important games; which makes you physically and mentally tired as well.

"But this team worked very hard to get here."

So, we wish Liverpool all the best ahead of Saturday. It is only one more match and then the Reds can somewhat switch off.

The Anfield faithful are certainly behind them. We also wish the supporters traveling to France a safe trip. The game kicks off at 8:00pm BST.
