Jarrod Bowen would still add something to Liverpool despite Luis Diaz arrival

Liverpool signed Luis Diaz from Porto for an initial transfer fee of £37 million at the backend of January.

The winger made his debut for the club yesterday against Cardiff City at Anfield. Diaz impressed during the aforementioned fourth round FA Cup fixture.

The Colombia international registered an assist during Liverpool's 3-1 victory over the Bluebirds.

The Reds are stacked with options in attack. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Diaz at his disposal.

But, despite that being the case, we would not be against the club making a move for West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the Englishman. Bowen is having a superb season for the Hammers.

The 25-year-old has scored 10 goals and registered 10 assists in 33 appearances. Bowen has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.18 across the 2021-22 campaign.

Former teammate Robert Snodgrass was full of praise for the winger last year.

The 34-year-old told the club’s official website the following: “First and foremost, Jarrod is a great kid, and he wants to learn. He wants to be better.

“He’s already building relationships with full-backs, strikers, and midfield men running in behind – it’s what’s got him there – so now it’s just little cute things he can add to his game to become a mainstay in the Premier League.

“He’s got all the attributes to do so and he’s got the right attitude. West Ham have got a terrific player.”

West Ham United coach Stuart Pearce even compared Bowen to Salah back in January.

As quoted by LFC Transfer Room, the 59-year-old told talkSPORT the following: “The comparisons between him and probably Mo Salah, the way Mo Salah finishes where he stands the defender up and stops him and then goes again or uses the defender, you use the defender to curl the ball around into that far corner.

“And I think its just picking up a few comparisons that can help Jarrod with his game a little bit.

“Starting a run then stopping it, killing a defender in his tracks then going again. Little things like that, that’s why I think he still has more to come from his game.

“Good thing with him, he’s got two really good feet, and the last goal he scored was with his head and he’s got a really good leap on him as well.

“So all-round he can score with his head or both feet which is a sign of a decent striker and he’s played up front for us as well which has been a real bonus for us as a team.”

The aforementioned figures and comments highlight that Bowen is good enough to play at the highest level.

The Englishman is also entering his prime years. The likes of Salah, Mane and Firmino are all aged between 29-30.

Therefore, we do believe that it would be good for the club to have an eye to the future. Signing a player like Bowen would be doing exactly that.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has praised the 25-year-old in the past, which does suggest that he would be open to the idea of signing him.

“I like Bowen a lot, he made his way up from, was it Hull, if I’m right?” Klopp said back in November 2021, as quoted by This Is Anfield.

“And took not too long to get there, to show exactly what kind of player he can be in the Premier League as well, made big steps.”

Bowen's current contract expires in the summer of 2025. With that being the case, Liverpool will have to spend a bit of money if they wish to sign the forward.

Transfermarkt value Bowen at €35 million. But, we believe that he would be worth every penny.
