A prediction of who will be Liverpool's best player next season

The 2022-23 Premier League campaign kicks off in less than a month.

With that being the case, Anfield Watch's content creators have decided to predict who will be the club's best player next season.

Lachlan Ballingall - Mohamed Salah

It is really difficult to look past Salah. The winger is a superb player. Liverpool signed Salah from Roma for a transfer fee of £37.80 million back in 2017.

Since then, the Egyptian international has scored 156 goals and registered 63 assists in 254 appearances for the club's first-team.

Despite all the talk regarding Salah's contract situation last season, he was still named the 2021-22 Men's PFA Players’ Player of the Year.

However, the 30-year-old recently put pen to paper and extended his stay at Anfield. Salah will remain at Liverpool until the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign.

Therefore, Salah will be able to play with a free mind next season. I am very confident that the winger will lead the charge for the Reds over the next 10 months.

With goal machine Erling Haaland joining Manchester City this summer, Salah will be keen to show everyone that he is the more damaging forward in the league.

He is determined to be the best that he can be. Jurgen Klopp's comments back up the aforementioned argument.

"I saw that when I scouted him," the Liverpool boss said, as quoted by the BBC. "He was not the finishing monster we see now. I was incredibly excited to work with him.

"You need longer to know the person. The moment I knew it would be outstanding was when I knew him as a person. He was a workhorse. He is the first in to train, maybe James Milner beats him from time to time. And he’s the last out."

So, watch out for Salah next season.

Charlie Webb - Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool have so many good players that it’s hard to think of one who will stand out above the rest.

Last season, we had the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson who all could have been in with a shout of winning our Player of the Season.

I think we will see a similar thing next campaign too.

However, I think one player is going to shine the most, especially if Klopp changes formation to a 4-2-3-1, something that he has hinted at in pre-season.

For me, I believe right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will be Liverpool's standout player across the 2022-23 campaign, especially from an attacking point of view.

Every season he is usually one of Liverpool's better performers going forward, so it wouldn't surprise me if he went to another level in the next 10 months.

With striker Darwin Nunez joining the club from Benfica for a €100 million this summer, it finally gives Alexander-Arnold someone to aim at.

The 6’2 forward is lethal in the air and the Scouser won’t have to aim at 5’9 wingers anymore.

Alexander-Arnold registered 19 assists for Liverpool last season. With Nunez in the box, I can see that number increasing.

Another system change that will benefit Alexander-Arnold is playing with two holding midfielders.

It will mean that he can have more freedom on the right to link up with Salah, Nunez and whoever is playing in the number 10 role.

Hopefully I’m correct and Alexander-Arnold can take his game to another level. But, only time will tell if that is to be the case.
