Pundit Ally McCoist was full of praise for Roberto Firmino after Liverpool's Champions League group stage clash against Rangers at the Ibrox Stadium on Wednesday night.

The forward was electric against the Glasgow-based side. Firmino scored two goals and registered one assist.

The 31-year-old also secured a WhoScored player rating of 9.65 against the Scottish Premiership side.

Post-game, McCoist labelled Firmino as "intelligent".

“I think he’s one of the most intelligent footballers I’ve seen in a long, long time,” he told talkSPORT, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“His game awareness and game intelligence is absolutely second to none. Great footballer.

“Quick feet, good in the air. But intelligent, sees it, knows where to go, drops into pockets. I think he’s a very, very clever player.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

As McCoist pointed out, Firmino is a very gifted footballer. The forward has been a terrific player for Liverpool.

The Reds signed the Brazilian from Hoffenheim for a transfer fee of €41 million back in the summer of 2015.

Since then, Firmino has found the back of the net 106 times and registered 78 assists in 339 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

The 31-year-old has helped the club win the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title, League Cup, FA Cup and Community Shield.

So, Firmino will be missed when his time at Anfield comes to an end.
