A handful of Championship clubs are hoping to sign Liverpool defender Nat Phillips on loan this month.

Phillips was meant to spend the season at Scottish giants Celtic after signing on loan in the summer, but was recalled at the beginning of the month after struggling for game time - playing just 314 minutes for the club.

However, the possibility of another loan move has not been ruled out - and according to the Daily Mail, Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United and Cardiff City are interested in bringing Phillips to their clubs on a short-term basis.

The interested parties will have to act fast, however, with the January transfer window closing in just three days.

Phillips would join the likes of fellow Liverpool loanees Tyler Morton and Fabio Carvalho in the Championship, who are enjoying spells with Hull City.

After winning the hearts of Reds fans during Liverpool's injury-plagued 2020/21 campaign, the 26-year-old defender has struggled for opportunities at Anfield and has been sent out on a number of loans to keep him match fit.

While it appears the Reds are open to a permanent move away for Phillips, no club has yet matched their valuation of the Bolton-born man.

Wherever Phillips moves, the decision will surely be based on play-time - with there a desire not to repeat the mistakes of the Celtic switch.
