"Now that I’m in and around the team" - Harvey Elliott on who he wants to be

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has revealed what type of player he wants to be.

The 18-year-old has had a really promising start to his senior career. Elliott has scored one goal and registered two assists in 19 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

The Englishman did suffer a serious ankle injury against Leeds United at Elland Road back in September. Elliott missed 30 games as a result.

However, he did return to action back in February. Going forward, Elliott has revealed that he wants to be his own person and not base his game on anyone else's.

"Now that I’m in and around the team, I want to be my own person," Elliott told UMM, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

"I want to play my own game. I don’t want to base it off anyone else.”

For a youngster, Elliott does speak very maturely. We love that he wants to be the best version of himself.

Elliott is good enough to make his own legacy. There is no reason why kids playing football in the street aren't pretending to be the Englishman in the future.

As Jurgen Klopp has said, Elliott is a hard worker.

The German told the club's official programme the following, as quoted by LFC Transfer Room: “It was apparent after the game (Elliott's first game after his ankle injury against Cardiff City), when our players were showing their love and joy towards Harvey that there was a recurring theme: hard work pays off.

"And what I loved about Harvey’s own comments post-match is that he was the first to recognise the hard work wasn’t only his."

Those who put the effort in tend to get rewarded. Therefore, we are confident that Elliott will go on and have a superb career with his boyhood club.
