"Not in the Premier League" - Pep Guardiola's dig at Liverpool

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has taken aim at Liverpool Football Club.

The Citizens and the Reds have competed against each other for the Premier League title in recent years. However, Manchester City have had the better of the contest.

The Sky Blues have won three of the past four league titles. With that being the case, Guardiola has decided to remind everyone that Liverpool have only won one league title since 1990.

As quoted by Anfield Watch and City Xtra on Twitter, he said the following during a recent press conference: "Liverpool has an incredible history in European competitions - not in the Premier League because they've won one in 30 years."

Guardiola can say whatever he wants. We personally believe that he is feeling the pressure of having not won the Champions League with Manchester City. Guardiola was hired by the club to win the European Cup after all.

On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp has taken Liverpool to three Champions League finals (won one and will contest the third against Real Madrid in Paris at the backend of May).

Despite Liverpool's lack of league success in recent times, the club has still secured 19 titles. A small period of time does not define the club.

Besides, the Reds could still secure the 2021-22 Premier League title. So, Guardiola's comments could come back to haunt him.

Liverpool's next top-flight fixture is against Aston Villa at Villa Park tomorrow night.

Guardiola is right about one thing though. Liverpool do have a superb record in Europe's elite competition. The Reds have won the trophy six times.

Hopefully Klopp's side can add No.7 to the collection at the backend of May. But, only time will tell if that is to be the case.
