Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update on Thiago Alcantara.

The midfielder was only on the pitch for 45 minutes against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield yesterday.

Thiago was hobbling when he was taken off during the aforementioned Premier League fixture.

Klopp has revealed that the 31-year-old is a doubt for next Saturday's Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris.

“Not good, but I cannot say more,” he told reporters when asked about Thiago's injury, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“He was outside with the families and had his little girl on his shoulders, so he could walk so that’s obviously a good sign. All the rest we will see from tomorrow.”

Klopp added: “The lower part of the body (is where the injury was sustained). I know it but I don’t want to talk now about it, actually. We will see. Give us a chance.

“It makes the news not better or worse. We want to wait until we know more about it and then you will get the information as well.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Thiago is such a talented player. The midfielder has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.94 across the 2021-22 club campaign.

Thiago has the ability to control a football match. But, the Spaniard has had plenty of injury problems since joining the club back in September 2018.

Champions League finals tend to be quite hectic because of what is on the line.

So, you need a player like Thiago out on the pitch. He looked shattered after yesterday's 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, which does suggest that the injury he has suffered is quite serious.

However, only time will tell if Thiago will be fit for the final. Hopefully he can make a very quick recovery.
