"Not easy" - Diogo Jota opens up on missing pre-season through injury

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has opened up on missing pre-season.

The Portugal international was unavailable for the club's pre-season programme due to a hamstring injury.

With that being the case, Jota has opened up on why it was difficult to not be able to train ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

"Yeah, not easy! Coming back from injury (you) always wish for a different scenario and everything is rolling and we are winning the games comfortably but it is what it is," he told Liverpoolfc.com, as quoted by AW on Twitter.

"We need to think and to deal with the situation and I think I did that, and the team did that, so all good. It was the first time in my career that happened (missing pre-season) but we cannot change that.

"I think I need to do my best from now on. Obviously (the) coach knows that as well. I’ve been playing gradually more and more so I can be ready to play 90 minutes soon."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We can see where Jota is coming from. The reality is, the forward was miles behind his teammates from a fitness point of view when he eventually recovered from his hamstring injury.

But, Jota will get back up to speed. The Portugal international made his first start of the season against Ajax at Anfield last Tuesday night.

So, Jota is certainly on the mend. Hopefully the 25-year-old can stay fit for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign.

Because of Jota's age, we are confident that he has another level to go to, which is exciting. However, only time will tell if that is the case.
