No Mo Salah? No problem, here’s why Liverpool STILL have the best attack in the Premier League

How good would Liverpool's attack be without Mohamed Salah? It turns out surprisingly, still very good.

Arne Slot's offensive options other than the Egyptian haven't really hit the ground running on the surface. But even when you take Salah out of the equation, the Reds still have some of the most prolific goal-scorers in the Premier League.

Delving into the numbers Salah has by far and away been the most productive player in England's top flight averaging 0.86 goals per 90 this season.

That's the highest out of any player in the Premier League who has played 800+ minutes. The second most prolific player is Alexander Isak with 0.76 goals per 90 followed by Erling Haaland with 0.70 per 90.

Admittedly, there are no Liverpool players in the top 10 but there are three more players in the top 25 players for goals per 90.

Why Liverpool's attackers might be better than you think

Diogo Jota is in 11th place averaging 0.48 goals per 90, which is just below Matheus Cunha in 10th place who averages 0.49.

Elsewhere, Cody Gakpo's 0.46 goals per 90 ranks him in 17th place just below Cole Palmer and Bryan Mbeumo who both average 0.47 goals per 90.

Meanwhile, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz round up the top 25 list with 0.40 goals per 90 respectively.

Having four players in the top 25 is a significant achievement for Liverpool and one that should not be overlooked.

Manchester City have just one player in Erling Haaland and the same is true for Arsenal whose sole representative in the top 25 list is Kai Havertz.

Chelsea come the closest to Liverpool with three players in Palmer, Noni Madueke and Nicholas Jackson but this would still only put them on par with Liverpool - if we are excluding Salah from the list.

These numbers should put important context to Arne Slot's performance this season. Even with a squad of players who may not be perfectly suited to his style of play he's managed to squeeze out the most from them.

The issue is more of a recent one as well because it's only in the last few months that the trio of Diaz, Nunez and Jota have really dropped down in form.

Darwin Nunez has just one goal in his last 13 matches, Diaz has netted one goal in his last 18 appearances and Jota has one goal in 11 matches.

They need to be better and rekindle their form at the start of the campaign. Although even that might not be enough to salvage their careers at Anfield.

Liverpool expect to be ruthless and as Anfield Watch revealed exclusively the club plan to put all three up for sale.
