"No matter what the result is" - Kostas Tsimikas on the title race
Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas has given his thoughts on the 2021-22 Premier League title race.
The Reds are one-point behind league leaders Manchester City heading into the final day of the season (Sunday).
Liverpool will face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield and Manchester City will welcome Aston Villa to the Etihad Stadium.
So, for Jurgen Klopp's side to win the title, they will need a favour from Steven Gerrard's Villa.
However, Tsimikas has revealed that the Reds will play for the fans rather than worry about the title race.
The Greece international told LFC TV the following: "Yes of course, we go to win. No matter what the result is going to be for Manchester City, we will play to win and to be happy with our fans.
"In the Premier League we give absolutely everything, we deserve I think the trophy but of course Man City is one very, very good team.
"Of course, it was a big competition but every challenge (this season) we were there: we won the FA Cup, we won the Carabao Cup, we are in the Champions League final.
"We are second (in the Premier League), one-point behind and I can’t say anything else about this team. I’m very proud and very happy for everybody."
Anfield Watch Verdict
We completely agree with Tsimikas' comments. On Sunday, all Liverpool can do is focus on themselves and look to please the fans.
As Tsimikas pointed out, the Reds have had a terrific season. But, there is no denying that it has the potential to get even better.
The 2021-22 campaign has been the most enjoyable during Klopp's reign. To compete for all the major honours in club football is a special achievement.
Only time will tell if Liverpool are to claim the quadruple.
