Dominik Szoboszlai is the most popular Liverpool player of 2023/24 according to shirt sales data released by the club.

Liverpool's new number eight has enjoyed a terrific start to life at Anfield, having arrived in a £60m deal from RB Leipzig as part of the Reds' midfield rebuild this summer.

The 22-year-old scored a peach of a first goal for the club in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa, while he also features highly on the Premier League's distance covered and top speed charts.

The Hungarian is already earning shouts of signing of the season from several pundits, with Paul Merson among those praising Szoboszlai's impressive start.

"Szoboszlai has been the pick of the bunch, for me," the ex-Arsenal star wrote for Sportskeeda. "I hadn't seen much of the lad while he was at RB Leipzig but I have to say I've been so impressed by him, he hasn't had a bad game yet! He scored a worldie the other day and does a bit of everything, he's going to be phenomenal for Liverpool in the coming years."

Szoboszlai is even more loved among fans and his status as Anfield's newest favourite has been confirmed by the fact that his name and number eight are the most popular choices on the back of shirts sold by the club.

According to Liverpoolfc.com, who have released a top ten of the most requested player shirts, 'Szoboszlai 8' has outsold even 'Salah 11' since the start of the summer, with numbers 'based on sales through official club channels between May 29 and September 10 of this year.'

While no actual sales figures are released, Szoboszlai apparently tops the list of male Liverpool players, ahead of Salah in second, while another new signing in Alexis Mac Allister is listed as the third most popular in terms of shirt printing.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and the Reds new number 9, Darwin Nuñez make up the rest of the top five.
