"Napoli have a great opportunity" - Gianfranco Zola on tonight's clash
Former professional footballer Gianfranco Zola has given his thoughts on tonight's Champions League group stage clash between Napoli and Liverpool at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
The Reds have only secured two wins from their opening six Premier League fixtures this season.
After five matches, Napoli are yet to lose a game in their respective league, which highlights that they are a decent side.
With that being the case, Zola has issued Liverpool with a warning ahead of tonight's clash.
“(Luciano) Spalletti’s Napoli have a great opportunity to beat Klopp’s Liverpool if they play with the right weapons. The pace, in a match against Liverpool is completely different from that of the league," he told Il Mattino, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.
"I am confident. Napoli have good technical values. We hope there is (Victor) Osimhen – his absences due to injury weighed on last season. And then there is that boy, the Georgian Kvaratskhelia. Napoli can enhance this group.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Zola is spot on. Tonight will be a challenge for Liverpool. To be honest, we are glad that it won't be a walk in the park for the Reds.
After a slow start to the season, we want to see Jurgen Klopp's side put in a strong display against a good team.
You never know, tonight's clash could be the game that kickstarts Liverpool's season.
The fixture kicks off at 8:00pm UK time.
