"My first choice" - Premier League midfielder praises Thiago Alcantara

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves has recently praised Red Thiago Alcantara.

Liverpool signed the Spaniard from Bayern Munich for a transfer fee of €22 million back in the summer of 2020.

However, the Anfield faithful are yet to see the best of Thiago. The midfielder has suffered a number of injuries since joining the club. Thiago has only made 53 appearances for the Reds' first-team as a result.

But, Neves has reminded everyone that a special player is on the books at Liverpool.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the 25-year-old told The Telegraph the following: "Thiago is one of the hardest (to play against). "So smart. Quality, physicality, he’s one of the best. I can say N’Golo Kante as well, it’s impossible to take the ball from him and, defensively, he’s a monster. But my first choice would be Thiago."

Anfield Watch Verdict

As Neves has pointed out, Thiago is a top player. There is a reason why the midfielder has played for the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Thiago recently recovered from a thigh injury. With that being the case, hopefully the Spaniard gets a decent run at things.

We are confident that if he can stay fit, the Anfield faithful will see the absolute best of him. Thiago performed well against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium (Premier League) earlier this week.

The 30-year-old registered an assist and a WhoScored player rating of 7.9 for his 90-minute performance against the Gunners.

Diogo Jota, who scored thanks to Thiago's pass, was full of praise for his teammate post-game.

“When you have a player like Thiago, if you have the right space then you know he can see you and put the ball there, and it was the first time I really had space in the game in the defensive line and I took advantage of it and it was massive for us," the 25-year-old told the club's official website, as quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter.

Hopefully Thiago can keep up the good form and propel Liverpool towards another trophy or two this season.
