Aurelien Tchouameni linked with Liverpool

Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has been touted as a potential midfield target for Liverpool in the summer window, as per David Ornstein for The Athletic.

Liverpool are not expected to do much business in the current January market but there has been a growing feeling that the summer window of 2022 is going to be big.

Indeed, last summer there was little in the way of arrivals signed and it was reported even back then that 2022 would be busier, with that now appearing to be the case even more so.

According to Ornstein for The Athletic, as well, midfield is an area that the Reds want to try and strengthen and the Monaco midfielder Tchouameni is on the club's radar.

He writes:

"Liverpool are also thought to be exploring options [for the summer] to strengthen in central midfield. One of the candidates is Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni."

Anfield Watch Verdict

The midfielder is a really decent prospect and so it makes sense that Liverpool are looking at him - though it'll be no shock to see several other top European sides are probably taking a closer inspection of his talents at the moment too.

Clearly, though, 2022 is being tipped by many to hold a busy summer window in store for Liverpool and that in itself is exciting enough.

The midfield positions do need a few more options added to them and hopefully the right players are identified to evolve the squad. The average age is only going one way at the moment and that does need addressing.
