"Moment of brilliance" - Frank Lampard praises Mohamed Salah
Everton boss Frank Lampard has lauded Mohamed Salah for his involvement in Liverpool's first goal against the Toffees at Anfield yesterday.
During the second-half, the Reds winger linked up nicely with Divock Origi before finding Andy Robertson at the far post. The Scotland international then headed the ball into the back of the net to give Liverpool the lead.
With that being the case, Lampard was full of praise for Salah post-game.
“The gameplan was formed understanding they are one of the best teams in the world,” the Englishman told Everton's official club website.
“Could we be disciplined and work hard within that? Yes. Could we break and create chances? Yes.
“They didn’t threaten our goal at all in the first-half and we had a couple of opportunities. If we’d scored the first goal, the game would have felt completely different.
“But you know with Liverpool, they can produce a moment of brilliance, like Salah for the first goal.”
The Reds ended up defeating Everton 2-0.
Anfield Watch Verdict
Salah worked hard against Everton and he got his reward in the end. The winger ended up registering a WhoScored player rating of 7.03 for his 90-minute performance against the Toffees.
To be fair, Salah has been exceptional for Liverpool all season. The Egyptian international has scored 30 goals and registered 13 assists in 43 appearances for the club's first-team.
We are very lucky to be able to watch a player of Salah's quality on a weekly basis. In fact, we may not see a more prolific goalscorer represent the club for quite some time. Therefore, the Anfield faithful should simply sit back and enjoy what Salah brings to the game of football.
Hopefully he can finish the season strongly and propel Liverpool towards some more silverware.
