Moises Caicedo breaks silence on future amid Liverpool and Chelsea transfer interest
Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo has addressed speculation surrounding his future amid reported interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.
The 21-year-old has quickly made a name for himself as one of the most exciting players in the Premier League and also represented Ecuador at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as teams across the continent continue to keep tabs on his future. He has been tipped to reunite with ex-Brighton boss Graham Potter at Chelsea, with the Blues reportedly having a ÂŁ55m bid knocked back earlier this month.
According to the Liverpool Echo, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Caicedo indicated that he's fully focused on performing well for the Seagulls.
"I am focused on Brighton. I am here, I'm playing every day. Things from outside don't trouble me, nor does it take that focus away because I'm focused only on here. I handle [the speculation] well.
"You hear rumors here and there, but I only try to be focused on the club where I am now, the club which opened the doors for me to be playing every week."
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Moises Caicedo would undoubtedly improve Liverpool's current midfield, with the Reds' current options struggling for form and consistency this season. He reportedly has a £75m price tag in January, which could prove to be a stumbling block for Jurgen Klopp and co.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have splashed the cash under Todd Boehly and are likely to submit an improved bid for Caicedo ahead of the transfer deadline. The Ecuadorian midfielder made his name in the Premier League under Graham Potter and could be tempted by the prospect of reuniting with the Englishman. However, Liverpool's interest seems genuine, so it remains to be seen if the Reds decide to make a move for the talented midfielder.
