Mohamed Salah has revealed he sees 'similarities' between the current Liverpool squad and the one that lifted the Premier League title in 2019/20.

Salah scored his 200th Liverpool goal in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, with both his and Harvey Elliott's strikes coming late in the second half after falling behind at Selhurst Park.

The latest comeback win sent Jurgen Klopp's side top of the Premier League table for the first time this season, with Arsenal losing 1-0 to Aston Villa later in the day.

Speaking after the game, Salah hailed his teammates' never-say-die mentality in eking out the win, drawing comparisons with the side that went on to win the title four seasons ago.

“I think the most important thing is that we won the game,” the Egyptian forward told broadcaster TNT Sports after the game. “It was really tough. When we win the game and I score goals it’s a great feeling. I’m happy for the record and for the team to win the game.

“I see the mentality. Just keep fighting until the end. We did it this game, last game and the game before. It’s something positive we can take from that. Of course we have like a new team, six or seven new players in the starting line. We just need to give them our advice.

“They are learning a lot and they are really nice guys. There are similarities from 2019, but of course the other guys achieve a lot and we have to give them credit. But I am sure we can do something special this year.”

As proof of Liverpool's spirit, the Reds' have scored more winning goals in the 90th minute or later than any other team in Premier League history, as revealed by to Opta – bagging 43 since the division's inception in 1992.

Klopp's 'mentality monsters' also have the most points from losing positions so far in 2023/24, with 18.
