Mohamed Salah says that it will be a "really sad moment" when he leaves Liverpool

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has said that it will be a "really sad moment" when he departs Anfield.

The Reds signed the Egyptian international from Roma for a transfer fee of £37.80 million back in the summer of 2017.

Since then, Salah has gone on to become one of the best players in the world. The 29-year-old has found the back of the net 155 times and registered 62 assists in 249 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

With that being the case, the Anfield faithful love Salah. Therefore, we weren't shocked to hear him say that he will miss the club when he eventually moves on.

“To play in that atmosphere and see the fans always behind me – I have banners in the stadium, two or three, and they’re always singing my song, so it’s going to be a really sad moment,” Salah told the latest edition of FourFourTwo Magazine (June 2022, page 38).

Anfield Watch Verdict

Salah is contracted until the summer of 2023. Therefore, there has been plenty of talk regarding his future.

It has been reported that the club has offered Salah a new deal, but he wants to be paid a higher wage.

We do hope that the Egyptian international and Liverpool can come to an agreement sooner rather than later.

It would be a huge shame if Salah departed the club in the near future. He is far from finished as a professional footballer.

Salah, 29, has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.45 across the 2021-22 club campaign.

We may never see a player of his ability at Anfield ever again. However, only time will tell where Salah's long-term future lies.

On another note, with the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup on the line for Liverpool, talks regarding his future are an unwanted distraction as far as we are concerned.
