Mohamed Salah back in Liverpool's open training session
Mohamed Salah is back in training with Liverpool. The Egyptian was seen at the Reds' open training session on Wednesday.
Liverpool held an open training session on Wednesday ahead of their return to the Europa League this week. And there was one massively positive update - Mohamed Salah was there.
Salah has only been available for two games in 2024, with the first on New Year's Day. Since then, Liverpool have only had him available for 46 minutes against Brentford last month.
The Egyptian has struggled with injury since leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations, ruling him out of the Reds' last few fixtures. Of course, that came at the same time that several other first-team stars were out of action through injury.
Gradually, though, they're returning. Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nunez both featured against Nottingham Forest at the weekend, with the latter even popping up with a dramatic winner.
Liverpool could certainly use more returns, however. Not only do they have the first leg of their Europa League Last 16 clash with Sparta Prague this week, but Manchester City visit Anfield this weekend. That promises to be the biggest game of the season.
Next week? The second leg, followed by Manchester United in the FA Cup. It's a run of games that will define the entire season.
And so having Salah back is an invaluable positive for the team right now. It would be nice to have Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota back, too - but you take what you can get at times like this.
Salah could well be the difference between success and failure over the next few weeks. He's got the quality to win the biggest games and Liverpool certainly have a few of those coming up.
And to top it all off, it turns out Caoimhin Kelleher is fine. There were rumours he had an injury but the Irishman was also present for the training session.
