Mohamed Salah discusses recent Ballon d'Or snub
Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has offered his thoughts on recently missing out on the Ballon d'Or and has said that his life will be more than fine if he never picks up the award.
The Egyptian looked a firm candidate to win the award towards the end of 2021, but instead finished a pretty astonishing 7th in the rankings.
Indeed, Lionel Messi picked up the gong for the 7th time and many suggested that the award has lost some of its credibility for the way a lot of the results went - with Robert Lewandowski also getting similar treatment to Salah of late.
The Egyptian, though, is unbothered by recent events with him saying in an interview with GQ via Anfield Watch:
“I can’t really lie and say honestly I didn’t think about it. No, I think about it. I want to be the best player in the world. But I will have a good life even if I don’t win [the Ballon d’Or]. My life is OK, everything is fine.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
As Salah hints at, there are far worse things to be worrying about than whether you're ever going to win a Ballon d'Or.
Ultimately, few people saw those results and agreed that Mo is only the 7th best player in the world at the moment and that is perhaps all that matters.
We know how good he can be, and hopefully there's much more to come from him in a Liverpool shirt.
