Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah wants to face Real Madrid in the 2022 Champions League final.

The Reds have booked their ticket to Paris by defeating Villarreal 5-2 over two legs.

Liverpool will face either Real Madrid or Manchester City at the Stade de France.

The Citizens defeated the La Liga side 4-3 at the Etihad Stadium last week. The second leg between the two sides will take place at the Bernabeu tonight.

After Liverpool defeated Villarreal last night, Salah was asked which side he would prefer to face in the final.

As quoted by journalist Emma Sanders on Twitter, the winger told BT Sport the following: “I want to play Real Madrid. I have to be honest. If you’re asking me personally, I want to play Madrid.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We can understand why Salah would like to face Real Madrid in the 2022 Champions League final. Back in 2018, the Reds lost the European final 3-1 to the La Liga side in Kiev.

Salah was also forced off the pitch in the first-half after Sergio Ramos injured him. The defender deliberately dragged the winger down to the ground which resulted in a shoulder injury.

So, Salah wants revenge. But, Real Madrid and Manchester City are top sides.

There is a reason why they are both competing for a place in the biggest final in club football.

Therefore, Liverpool will have to be at their best to claim the European Cup this season.

The biggest fixture in club football will take place on the 28th of May. For the mean time, the Reds have the Premier League and FA Cup final to worry about.

If all goes well, Liverpool could win the quadruple this season. Liverpool have already claimed the League Cup.

Jurgen Klopp's side defeated Chelsea on penalties at Wembley Stadium back in February.
