Mohamed Salah has been crowned October's Premier League Player of the Month, with only four players having won the award more than the Egyptian.

The 31-year-old scored five goals in three games in October, netting braces against Brighton and Everton, while also scoring Liverpool's third in a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

The winger fought off competition from five other Premier League players: Douglas Luiz, Pedro Neto, Bryan Mbuemo, Declan Rice and Cristian Romero.

Salah was the Reds' most consistent and impressive performer last month, justly scooping another Premier League Player of the Month award.

That takes his tally to five since arriving at Anfield in 2017, with the former Chelsea man now level with Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.

Salah sits behind only four players for Premier League Player of the Month accolades - Steven Gerrard and Cristiano Ronaldo with six and Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero with seven.

Liverpool's No. 11 joins the Tottenham duo of James Maddison and Son Heung-min as this season's award winners and will be hopeful of levelling Gerrard's tally by the end of the season.

Salah has also, rather unsurprisingly, been named Standard Chartered's October Player of the Month among the Liverpool squad.
