Mohamed Salah worrying hint after Jurgen Klopp Liverpool departure

Mohamed Salah has insisted that Jurgen Klopp's imminent departure will not be the deciding factor on whether he leaves Liverpool this summer.

With his current contract set to expire in 2025, many have speculated that Salah could follow Klopp out the exit door at the end of the season - potentially in a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.

However, in continuing his talismanic form throughout the current campaign, fans are overwhelmingly keen to keep the Egyptian on for at least another season, and hope to see him sign a contract extension in the coming months.

Nevertheless, with question marks surrounding his future, Salah has insisted his manager's departure won't directly influence his future - while conceding that he will one day follow Klopp out the Anfield exit door.

“No, no. It’s life. It’s part of life now,” Salah told Sky Sports, when asked if Klopp's exit would affect his situation. “Everything moves.

“Players left the club already, very important players left the club. Manager also very important for the club but he’s leaving the club.

“One day I will leave the club, but no [Klopp leaving won’t impact my decision].”

Salah's shock at Klopp decision

Salah has also opened up on the day he discovered the German would be leaving Liverpool after nine decorated seasons - revealing that he actually thought the manager had extended his contract at the club, prior to being told the news.

“It was weird. Usually we don’t do meeting at 10.30,” he recalled. “10.30 is report time, 12 is training, but they said there is a meeting at 10.30. I was like, ‘What?’

“The manager’s agent was here. I was like, ‘Oh, he’s renewing his contract’. Because usually there is no meeting at this time.

“Then five minutes before the meeting, Virg says to me, ‘Do you know what the meeting is about?’ I said, ‘No?’ He says, ‘The manager is leaving’.

“He said, ‘Really, the manager is leaving’. I said, ‘Are you serious?’ He said, ‘Yeah’. I said, ‘Why?’ He said, ‘No idea.’

“Then the manager came in and everybody is asking. I don’t know, I don’t know. Then he just said it. It was just weird.

“No-one knew before, nothing in the media. He didn’t even prepare us for that. He just said it one time. Okay, that was a weird day for us.”
