Liverpool's Mohamed Salah could be a doubt for the clash with Luton Town in the Premier League on Wednesday after a recurrence of his hamstring injury, according to one report.

The attacker played his first minutes for the Reds since New Year's Day against Brentford on Saturday after suffering an injury with Egypt during his participation at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Liverpool's No.11 came off the bench at half-time to replace Darwin Nunez in the 4-1 victory - who is another injury doubt for Wednesday's match - and took no time getting back up to speed for the Reds.

Salah set up Alexis Mac Allister with a wonderful pass to double Liverpool's lead before netting himself in an impressive second-half display, but it may not be all good news for the forward after Saturday's win.

However, according to journalist Ahmed Shoubir for Egyptian outlet Kora Plus, Salah "renewed" his hamstring problem in the win over Brentford and is now expected to miss the upcoming encounter with Luton on Wednesday, 21 February.

Liverpool are already without a host of players for the visit of the Hatters midweek, including the likes of Thiago, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai and Joel Matip.

There was even more bad injury news from Saturday's trip to the Gtech Community Stadium as well, with Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota now set for spells on the sidelines after being withdrawn against Brentford.

Jota could be set for at least two months out after injuring his knee according to one report, while there is little information on the severity of Jones' ankle issue.

However, given the source of Salah's injury update, it remains a possibility that the 31-year-old plays some part during Liverpool's clash with Luton.

The Reds will be eager to rest as many players as they can before the Carabao Cup final next Sunday, but they also know that they can't afford any more slip-ups in the race for the Premier League title.

Official updates on the fitness of Liverpool's stars, including Salah are expected in the coming days.
