Mo Salah now wanted for Netflix documentary; Man City star rejected chance
Liverpool’s Mo Salah is now wanted by Netflix for a new documentary. It comes after a Manchester City star reportedly said no.
Netflix are ready to approach Mo Salah over a new documentary, says the Daily Mail. They're looking for a proper football version of their American Football series 'Quarterback', which followed three quarterbacks over the course of a season.
This new documentary series would be on the 'art of finishing' and sees Salah as one of the biggest names they're interested in. Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins are also on their list - in fact, the former has been approached.
However, Haaland reportedly rejected the opportunity. It's also unclear whether Salah or Watkins are even interested in such a thing, given Netflix almost certainly want quite a lot of access here.
Quarterbacks included a lot of behind-the-scenes footage, including with the stars' families. Given Netflix are looking to recreate that style of documentary, you can imagine they're after similar access.
Mo Salah to receive Netflix offer
It's worth adding that there's not even a guarantee that Salah plays in the Premier League next season, what with interest from Saudi Arabia. Now, the spending in the Saudi Pro League has slowed down and there may not be an offer this summer but it's certainly a consideration here.
In fact, if Salah were to accept the Netflix offer, it would be a very solid sign that he's remaining at Anfield for the season.
But there's obviously a long way to go here - and if Netflix can't land either Haaland or Salah, it's hard to believe they'll even push forward with the idea. After all, they're the two top goalscorers in the Premier League and certainly the biggest striking stars.
Salah will feature in at least one documentary, of course. Liverpool are currently filming one that documents the final months of Jurgen Klopp's reign.
So even if the 'finishing' one doesn't get made, you'll still be able to get your Salah documentary fix.
