Mo Salah hit 2023 milestone just one Premier League star matched
Mo Salah enjoyed a sensational 2023, hitting a Premier League milestone that only one other player managed to match. The Egyptian continues to thrive.
Mo Salah has played his last football of 2023 and what a year it was for the Liverpool star. He hit two all-time milestones this year, for one - 200 goals for Liverpool and 150 in the Premier League.
It's been an incredible journey since arriving in 2017 and the most amazing part of it all is how Salah just continues to thrive. He never has off years - rarely even bad patches of form - and 2023 was no different.
The Egyptian hit a milestone this year as he scored at least 20 goals and registered at least 10 assists in the Premier League. A 20 + 10 season is an incredibly difficult thing to achieve, as shown by only one other Premier League player managing to do it.
That player is Ollie Watkins. He's been on another level with his assists this season, picking up 10 already as Aston Villa sit in second. They've put him onto 13 for the year, along with 21 goals since January.
21 goals and 13 assists, then. Fantastic numbers and the only company Salah has as a 20 + 10 player. Of course, the Liverpool star does have Watkins beat on both counts.
Salah's numbers are 24 goals and 15 assists, so he's actually got more than Watkins on both counts. It's hardly surprising that the winger has gone above and beyond, though.
Salah is unlikely to match this feat in 2024 - it would be a remarkable achievement to do so. That's because he's off to the Africa Cup of the Nations to start the year.
Doing so will cause him to miss a few Premier League fixtures, while he'll also return from the tournament a little exhausted. Though, that does depend on how far Egypt go.
They went all the way to the final last time out, of course, and Salah suffered quite badly over the second half of the 2021/22 season as a result. Liverpool will be praying that's not the case this time out if they're to maintain their title charge.
